We are all Buddhas already, we were already of our true nature, we just have to return to it. We must understand this, and we must understand that we will only become enlightened when we stop trying to become enlightened.
We do not have to be happy with everything that happens each day, but we should know this: Even though we may not be able to change or prevent these events, we can change our attitude and reaction to them.
With such amazing beauty all around us at any moment, that is further justification of why we should focus and be entirely in the now, with no distracting thoughts to steal the thunder from the simple wonders all around us.
Doing these things will lead to enlightenment, nothing special. There is no special chant, prayer, or sutra that will magically lead to enlightenment. To know this is to be enlightened.
When we search, when we actively seek out what is most important in life, we are living and when we are living, whatever it is we are doing, if we are doing it with our complete mind and body, that is Zen.
