It is easy to be barbarian, whether it be spilling blood, or swearing curse words. It is much more difficult, and much more noble, to control yourself, and master your mind. The biggest struggle is within.
With this in mind, let us also remember that anyone and nearly anything can be a great teacher. Do not think you can only learn from those you deem worthy, or you are also closing your mind to new opportunities to learn, and closing your mind to true awakening.
It is great to become an expert at something, but even our expertise in one very specific area can benefit from working or thinking in different areas. It has been proven to expand our creativity and give the brain a break, and a workout of a different nature.
Rather than fight fire with fire, use water. When treated unintelligently by someone else, let’s say by rude or childish insults, we should respond intelligently, let’s say by not responding with similarly childish insults. I am a large person, 6′ 2″ and 220 lbs.
