“The more laws and order are made prominent, the more thieves and robbers there will be.”
Some would say laws are made to be broken. Perhaps people choose to dissent from authority, or naturally want to be free. If we went the opposite way, having no laws nor order, would we have less thieves and robbers? I doubt it. People may be self regulating for the most part, but there are always a percentage of people that have nothing to lose and will commit crimes to benefit themselves.
What this quote is saying though, is that more laws and more order will not help matters, but will instead make them worse. The more people feel cheated by “the system” with more laws and orders, the more they will want to play Robin Hood and get something back by nefarious means.
Instead, like most things, moderation is the answer. Some laws and orders are necessary, but not too many.
