“When love and hate are both absent everything becomes clear and undisguised.”
Emotions cloud our vision and judgement. We are human, we should have emotions and enjoy them, that is what is great about being human. However, when we are trying to make a decision or even are about to act in haste, we need to be mindful that emotions cloud our judgement. The truth can be easily disguised in a shroud of love or hate.
We may love someone so much that we are blinded from the fact that our loved one is hurting themselves or others. We may not want to believe it and may not even think they need help. Other times we are so much in love we may be neglecting other aspects of our lives. Let us enjoy our emotions without letting them rule our lives.
Love and hate are both very strong emotions. They go hand in hand. Some say you cannot truly know hate unless we truly know love. Sometimes this is true within one relationship and can be quite unfortunate. We must be mindful of how powerful these emotions can be, we must nurture these emotions and accept them rather than try to suppress them. But we must also not practice bad habits when we feel these emotions.
Sometimes when we think we hate someone, it is because we were too attached to expectations we had of that person or our relationship with that person. Eliminate the expectations and we eliminate our negative emotions towards those people. If we punch a wall or table every time we get angry, we are practicing to repeat those bad habits whenever we get angry. This means we might punch the next person we get mad at.
Enjoy your emotions, but don’t let them control you.
