“When the pupil is ready to learn, a teacher will appear.”
Often our minds are closed to new ideas or even old ideas, especially when they come from other people. It is wise to consider all ideas, and consider them often. When we close our minds, we are not ready to learn. It is like a cup that cannot be filled without first being emptied.
A teacher could be an actual teacher, but is also a metaphor for any resource that we can learn from. We will not see these resources when our minds are closed to learning, but they will appear when we are open to learning. If we practice keeping our minds open to learning and listen to others with compassion, limitless resources will be available to us for learning.
